Guys:

I just got a non-original OTG cable from ebay, when I plug it into the phone, it recognises that the USB host is connected but when I plug in a flash drive, it says connected device requires external power source?

Is the OTG cable i got faulty or is there something I need to do for it to work?

Weird. mine just reads the USB drive as you would expect, maybe try a different USB drive first?

I did try another USB flash drive but does the same thing...

Tried a third flash drive and it now works, so maybe the first two were faulty or something.

Hi Guys newb here but been following forums for a while. Got my SGS II last week and very impressed after finding out my captivate was knackered and not new as advertised (whole other story)

Had to flash, be rude not to really so put on darkyroms 10.2 which i like as it has the app that makes flashing a breeze.

Have no issues with battery or anything else thus far so fingers crossed.

my 2 cents worth

After patiently waiting, Cognition has finally released 1.40 with KG6.  Have flashed it this afternoon. Now to see how it performs.
Flashing is such a breeze these days.  Setting the phone back up takes mere minutes (if you use the donation version of Titanium Backup). Everything back in order after just a few presses of the button.

Have just flashed this too, with Hardcore's latest - nice to have the stock browser back. . . . not too fussed on the blue OSG though - surely green would make more sense with Android/Gingerbread?

I also flashed to Cognition 1.40 this evening. Seems fine so far, finally incorporates a lot of things I really liked in Battista 1.34, worth the wait.

What radio version did you find to be the best for Telecom? I'm running the nightly builds of CM7 on KG6 radio.

Cheers

Hi Steve I'm new as well so can't post links but just google rooting SGS2 there is a lot of help there but you need Samsunf Kies for drivers and will also need to download Odin.

I think you mean flashing which is installing a new Rom which you can do after you have rooted the phone.

Anyway use google there is a alot of newb info out there especially XDA developers and whilst it is quite daunting the first few times it is quite good sense of achievement after you have

Had two random reboots on Cognition 1.40. I wasn't doing anything difficult, just looking up a contact the 2nd time (can't remember the first time).  Time for Speedmod Kernel.  I was enjoying the BLN.

I'm sure BLN will come in time - I went back to Ninphetamine (2.05) the other day and couldn't believe how bad the battery life was compared to Speedmod.

And tbh, I think Hacre (the Ninphetamine Dev) has jumped the shark with his ranting/raving.

Lol you got a link to that ranting? And imo 2.0.2 is much better on battery than 2.0.05.

Pretty much every post in his thread. . . .not to mention the infamous post #5.  I agree with alot of his points about people asking the same questions over and over without bothering to read a single page back, but he's just a little too sanctimonious for my liking.

If anyone wants a really good replacement set of earbuds, I'd highly recommend these - very sharp price on firstin.co.nz today:
