nofam:Barrabas: Can someone PLEASE tell me how to sync this SGS2 to my PC for mass storage without bloody Samsung Kies (POS) connecting automatically???
I've checked Kies and it isnt set to auto sync.
Unplug your phone from the PC first, and then turn on USB Debugging under Settings->Applications->Development.
Then when you plug it back in (assuming all drivers are installed), you get an option in your notification bar to connect.
You can stop Kies from coming up automatically. Inside Kies go to Tools > Preferences, and uncheck the box for Run Samsung Kies automatically when a device is connected.
I do this, and I get my phone show up as a separate entry in Explorer, below the normal drive letters. You can copy files to/from the phone's built-in SD card quite easily. I haven't tried an external SD card to see how it shows up.
There's also an item hidden under Settings > Wireless and network > USB utilities > Connect storage to PC. You can only do this once you've connected the phone to a USB cable, and it doesn't stick, so it's not as convenient. But it's good if you only use mass storage mode once in a while.
Barrabas: Starting to think shoulda bought an iphone...
The iPhone is probably worse than any Android phone. To put music or videos onto an iPhone, you pretty much need to use iTunes. And it's supposedly a real headache to get things set up so you can sync with iTunes on more than 1 PC. At least with Android everything is just a file in the file system, and it's easy to get bits on and off the phone.
