Ill probably keep it real close to stock for now just with the speed and battery mostly in mind, plus the extras like APM and extra quick settings etc... So ill test over the next day or so and see how we go :D

I reckon it will be good, I would develop it more like a tablet than a phone dont know about others, but i had the option to go the note or the s2 and i went with the s2 obviously but still looks cool (the note)

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Hey guys.

I am on Lite'ning Rom 6.1 and I am trying to install a new rom. But whenever I try to install a new rom using Rom Manager/Clockwork it fails. It tells me 'failed to verify whole file signature' and such like.

Then, I tried to download XWKE7 firmware from XDA, but when I unzipped it there was no .tar file!

In short, my phone refuses to remove 6.1 or change from it.

Thanks for that. I am unzipping the files yet for some reason they come up as z images, not .tar files.

Anyone know why this is? Trying to google as we post.

I am curious as noob rom flusher who have no idea who's rom is better except taking advices from this thread, as a developer yourself, how do you set standard/compare with other roms? Is there a tool/benchmark/battery check software you use?

What are you actually unzipping. Not an expert but can't you just flash the zip file via CWM.

dont use cwm/rom manager within android.

reboot to recovery and install from there. "install zip from sd card", "choose zip", browse for the zip file, go back, go back, reboot #winning.

try that

I am no developer but thanks to XDA I have caught up pretty fast, most devs post an AnTuTu Benchmark screenshot on their rom feature page. As they say on XDA only you can make a rom work for you so I suggest not just benchmarking the rom but configure it completely to your liking, apps, widgets, etc and then run the benchmark to get a true level of one rom to the next. Along with betterbatterystats to monitor kernel changes I have been able to see a definite difference in the 5 roms ive tried.

what i usually do is cook something up and get to a point where im really happy with it then upload a test build like "RC1" or Release Candidate etc.. once it has been tested properly by a group of selected people j make a few changes, test again then upload. Bench marks tell you very little regarding to the feel of a ROM. infact i can pretty much control how a benchmark will result by changing a few very minor things in the kernel but wont change the feel of the whole ROM

So basically its just about testing.. once youve done it for a while you know whats fast and stable and whats not. Personally i think my Sensation ROMs would be the fastest out at the moment but im just not as well known as the likes of Mike and Baadnewz
