nakedmolerat: it makes you wonder if iphone also has such programme installed (the truth is, you will never know if you use apple products - being a closed system/tight control etc)
now, can someone help me? i rooted my moto defy with super one click and easily change to CM 7.1. i think it is time for me to put cyanogenmod onto my sgs2 (bought from vodafone nz) - it is still running on stock 2.3.3, and there is no formal update until now.
i have rooted the phone with zergrush technique. unfortunately, with this method, it doesnt install clockworkmod recovery. i have attempted to install clockworkmod using ROM manager. for some reason, it failed this way and keep going back to the stock recovery - i read in xda that it should work this way??? it seems like, i have to start all over again and reroot the phone with different technique. can someone offer me a simpler step since i have already have my phone rooted?
second question, how do you backup 'stock' recovery?

really?
zergrush is now considered the safest/fastest/easiest method to root![]()
now, i have found the solution to get CWM after rooting it with this technique:
rooted the phone with zergrush technique (less than 90 sec)
install DarkyROM2 tool app from the market (less than 60 sec)
download latest siyah kernel (less than 30 sec)
launch DarkyROM2 tool and install the kernel (less than 60 sec including reboot)
Now, latest clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.7 is in my phone! Problem SOLVED!

jeffnz: Just my opinion, you asked on here about a problem, Brendan quite rightly stated you had done it wrong and offered solution. You come back making a statement that zergrush is the "safest/fastest/easiest method to root"says whom!. I'm certainly no expert but had never heard or seen of this on any threads I follow on SGS2 on xda or darky's. It may well be recognised by some but not widely known by all so maybe a bit of thanks for the help but I found my way would have sufficed.
just my opnion :) and like Brendan good to see you sorted it out and happy flashing.

droan: quick question about restoring after rooting. I have used the Ti to restore but the homescreen's widget link failed and had to reload, all my angry bird level gone?! Ringing tone had to redefine, is that normal?
p.s flashed to Fluxmod last night and flash to latest siyah 2.3 just now. everything looks good!
