It's hard to benchmark, but I'd say sgs to sii vs sii with ics, the second step is about half the first.

ui responsiveness is just hellish hard to quantify.

But it's not stable yet or complete, wifi tethering doesn't work for starters, sure I'll fund other things.

editing a post on here is nasty, keeps jumping left for instance.

It's pretty simple, stay with 2.3.5 until ICS is an official release. These are all still alphas/betas so these stats won't be truly be meaningful. There is still lots of development to come. 2.3.5/6 are official releases. Granted that ICS KP4/8 can be used as daily drivers. The folks here testing ICS out of their own curiosity and seeing how it works for them, and giving feedback on their experiences. The feedback isnt meant to provide a conclusion that says "oh you HAVE to get this beta now"

I'm just reading the feedback from everyone and will try a beta when I'm ready, and that's how you should approach it too I believe.

Is anyone using the Nova launcher?

I've downloaded KP8 + the launcher, but I'm just trying to decide whether to flash now(I'm on call...if something goes wrong, I might get in trouble at work)

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

Do your callout calls go to someone else, if you don't answer or are engaged? If not, then best not to flash. Better to be safe than sorry hehe!

KP8 looks pretty good. Might see what else is in the way of alpha/betas before giving it a go. Geez Samsung, why didn't you make TW optional! Looks like Nova Launcher it is.

Haha, nah they don't

I've been on call since the 23rd, rest of my team get to have holidays :(
I do get 4 days in Lieu though and get to keep all my annual leave

Might have to do it at work tomorrow, that way if it does go wrong, at least I'll have a colleague or two to go on call for me :)

As much as i want to go ICS and having sampled KP2 alpha my advice would be to stick with a nice 2.3.5/6 rom until either an official beta rom or AOSP beta rom comes out. The latest checkromHD rom is so slick and stable that until there is an ICS based rom that is equally slick and stable changing will just bring varying levels of disappointment. Also the GB ICS themes give you all the ICS AOSP eye candy

Mine wasn't returned the last time it went out, damned annoying.

I found the dealextreme ones a while ago(should really have posted the link...). Just don't hold your breath for quick shipping at the moment. The Christmas rush hasn't helped, but mine has been over three weeks so far. Still, cheap enough not to be a big worry. I paid USD3.20 for two, including shipping.

I agree. I'm waiting for a decent version to come out, and for Jkay (XDA) for release his mod for it as well. It's to useful to pass up and is a major consideration when I try roms. Also, the current leaked KP roms have a very GB style look. I can't believe we'd need to theme an ICS rom to actually look more like ICS, just doesn't seem right.

Once the more stable and official ICS roms start rolling out I am sure it will take two all of nanoseconds for the dev's to start chipping away at the ugly aspects of TW and get more AOSP ICS in there. An optimised and modified original rom is the best option in my eyes as you retain the full functionality of the actual device

What's the current recommendation on a great solid fast ROM? I was on one great one and the author disappeared, and then I moved to DlevROM and that guy seems to have halted development.

Any word on when a working ICS ROM will be out?

I got mine for about $8 incl postage on ebay, It would cost you that in petrol to drive somewhere to borrow someone elses :)
