Yeah, I'd file that under 'Really Bad Ideas' - I'm sure the frameworks are very different, so you'll probably end up with a bootloop, or a phone bulging at the seams with FC's!

Sorry Neets, we all know you most definitely can not play the Gender card.

Neets:

I am actually writing a piece for AndroidNZ.net about Mobile Odin.  Had heaps of fun with flashing a full stock ROM.  No dramas when flashing a kernel or a modem on their own, but came unstuck when I used it to flash a tar file for a custom ROM.  Thank goodness I hadn't lost recovery and could restore a nandroid backup.

But you're saying you've used Mobile Odin to flash a full custom ROM, which I presume you put in the System section?  Maybe I've misunderstood something, or just been clumsy, or again I could throw the "gender" card around ;-)

Hehe, I guess I should have been more specific: Mobile Odin can flash anything that's been made for flashing via Odin (well, almost).
If it says you have to flash it from a recovery then you can't use Odin to flash it. And just because the file is a .tar doesn't automatically make it compatible with Odin... :) Also, some fancy ROMs might require a custom PIT, in which case Mobile Odin wouldn't work as it deliberately doesn't flash PITs. But for most purposes Mobile Odin fits the job pretty well. :)

nofam: Thinking I'll make the jump to ICS tonight (finally) - is anyone using the LP3-based WanamLite?

I've been using v10 since yesterday and using Wanamlite exclusively for the last few weeks and I think it's great. Only problem I've been having is Contacts will FC sometimes when deleting contacts. Other problems have been of my own making hehe and my stupid wallpaper situation.
I haven't tried Omega so can't compare the two sorry.

Yeah, I was going to try Omega, due to it's popularity here, but it's look is a bit too 'busy' for my tastes.

nofam, the ICS version isn't. Customised mine with the usual wallpaper, custom dock icons. looks like my previous version. The blue black one isn't to my liking at all. Far too bold in its look for a simple girl like me. I'd be surprised if you didn't like it. But I don't really know which bits turn you off.

I'm a fan of Omega because of it's total smoothness around the whole rom. There's the non themed Stock and ICS roms from Omega to try also.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

Might try out Omega myself. I take it this is the correct one? Looks promising!

Try this and see if it fixes your contact issue. Smile

First sync all contacts that you sync eg, facebook, google etc
then
1 go to System Settings
2 Applications
3 Select the all tab
4 Scroll to Contacts select then
5 Clear data
6 Repeat for Contacts Storage
Go back to Accounts and sync and sync all
Wait for 1 hour (maybe less depends on contact list size) for contacts to sync. After that should be no more problems. This has helped me in the past with some of the firmwares I've flashed
This may work for other apps causing problems as well.
***Backup first just in case.***

I just bought the GT-i9100T for a friend from The Warehouse as part of the Samsung free TV deal.

Sweet I thought. Alas the friend is from China and reads negligible English which I didn't think was going to be a problem until we unboxed and fired up the phone to find that it has no Chinese language option!  A guy in a store said we could just download the Chinese language but I think he's been smoking something since I can't find any official other language packs to download and install.

Does anybody have any idea of how to install another language pack without having to root the phone and possibly install a different ROM?

Thanks

Try what I quoted above but change contacts to trademe, opera etc.
I have the same setup as you and trademe hasn't FC yet.
Otherwise wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache fix premissions
