Have a look here for the APN settings. You'll probably find the mms one is either missing or incorrect.

Yep, GO SMS is doing the job for now. So will stick with that. Also got Viber installed, so all is not lost. Just annoying it doesnt work by default. would of thought rooting the phone would screw the MMS.

Oddly enough I never had a problem for the nine months I had my S2 on XT. I didn't try CM, AOKP or MIUI roms until ICS was released, but mms on all my Samsung based custom roms worked perfectly.
Here are the three stock Telecom Roms (requested on XDA). The CSC's are listed for all three.
