On XDA Wanamlite and Omega roms have also released XXLSJ versions. Multi-window has also been ported.

On a side note, we've been unpinned from the main page and will now be relegated into the deepest darkest depths of the forum...

I'm finding this too. There doesn't seem to have been a dictionary included with the keyboard so it has to learn every word. Not particularly impressed with it and will most likely put Swype back on.

I found that I had to go into settings - Input languages - select samsung keyboard settings go into input languages and download english(uk)
After that the word prediction improved alot

Probably more that the mods have realised that there has been sod all posted in here for a while.

On another note I'm hoping Samsung fix the few bugs in the XXLSJ by the time the next firmware comes out. There's supposed to be an official Scandinavian release within the next couple of weeks, fingers crossed. I can live with the occasional lockscreen lag and gmail 4.2 sometimes causes soft reboots when launched from the lockscreen (not sure if that's gmail or Touchwiz), but really bugs me is the desktop/dock folders not closing after I launch an app. Even worse I've got a nasty feeling that it's not a bug but an intentional setting. If so I hope like hell that someone can find and fix it...

CM10 (with DorimanX Kernel) works great for me - nearly flawless. :) Never going back to bloated TouchWiz again!

K1000716: Jelly Bean has arrived!

In case you're living in a hole, or don't follow any other tech sites or forums, a leaked Samsung build of 4.1.2 Jelly Bean has appeared. The build is XXLSJ and was released to the masses this morning.
It's quite smooth and stable and other than a few small lags occasionally it's running very well. The new Touchwiz (S3, Note 2) is very nice on the S2, transforming the phone into something very pleasant to use (I previously hated Touchwiz). It's light years ahead of the quality we've come to expect of early leaked builds and certainly lends support to rumours of an impending release.

The downsides? None really, although the new firmware files are huge. Massive. Really massive. Last VNZ rom was 383MB, this is 903MB. Your eyes are not deceiving you, this is enormous.

New Features include: smart stay, direct call, enhanced motion sensors, a new keyboard, Google Now, floating video player, new gallery with face tagging, group cast, JB notifications, toggles and brightness slider in notifications, lock-screen with shortcuts, blocking mode (do not disturb feature), S Planer, widgets, 50 GB Cloud backup...
No ripple lock or multi-window, but then after all the other stuff I doubt there's space for it...

It's good. Try it, but take all the usual precautions.

Sorry for the late reply. It's Saturday and my kids and wife come first - especially with weather like we had today!

As you're already running the rom you'll need to flash the .zip kernel (here) in recovery from to get root again. It can be done from stock recovery.

Here's a good thread with a very comprehensive mod package.

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here so I apologise if this is a stupid question. Earlier this year I updated my gs2 to ICS using Kies, and ever since then I've been having problems when playing music from my phone on my car stereo using bluetooth connection. It simply restarts the phone after a few minutes playing.

Anyways, I'd like to know if there's currently a way to install JB on my Galaxy S2 (i9000). I researched the subject and came to the conclusion that since ICS doesn't allow backup/restore of the APN settings, root and flashing ICS is not possible. Please tell me I'm wrong (and I most likely am).

If anyone could point me to a step by step on rooting and installing JB on my GS2 (be it CM10 or whatever else works), I'd be much obliged!!!

Not trying to be a jerk, but this question should have been Googled, and you would have been viewing the answers in a shorter time than you could finish writing the above post. If you type 'root galaxy s2' or 'install cm10 galaxy s2' into www.google.com then the first result on the first search, and the second result on the second search are step by step instructions.

CM10 is a great choice.

Even a large thread that was popular for eons will drop off if thread activity drops below a certain threshold.

Get yapping about your fourth favourite handset (face it, you want to upgrade to either a Note, Note 2, or Galaxy S3), and your thread will again be thrust into the public eye.

Step 1. Root your device

I would suggest going for Method 1 - it's by far the cleanest, safest method - you wont be voiding the warranty (ie you won't touch the flash counter or get the yellow triangle), nor there is any risk in bricking the device.

Step 2. Install a custom ROM of your choice (flash the ROM from your SDCard by booting into CWM recovery, doing a full wipe and then flashing the zip file)

If you like the stock experience, then I suggest installing WanamLite, as it's a really fast, clean and slick ROM based on official Samsung Jellybean:

or if you don't mind living a bit on the edge - running the latest Android code, then use any CM10 based ROM. I recommend JellyBam, as it takes the best features from the best CM10 ROMs, and is under active development - the latest update was released today! (and the community is very active and helpful)

(As per my experience, everything works fine in CM10 except for HDMI mirroring (you'll be able to watch videos via HDMI but other stuff won't work). This will be fixed as soon as Samsung releases the sources for JB)

Also please confirm which phone you have? As you mention having i9000 Where the S2 is i9100.
It would make a big difference when flashing your phone to have the right firmware for your phone. :-)

Absolutely. It'll never sleep when plugged in, but should always sleep otherwise. Betterbatteyrstats got anything interesting to say? If you're on JB you may find Google Now is playing havoc with wakelocks.

There is no wakelock but cpuspy confirms it never goes to deep sleep when connected to wifi

I have changed the wifi setting from never sleep tonever sleep when plugged in ... see what happens
