CdTDroiD: Another question... Why is mine KE2 and not KE7?

just use the ODIN and get the firmware from XDA forums and you will be on KE7 too. I was on KE1 too when i bought my device.

OK so I'm more tierd than I thought. I can't find KE7 on the forum.

You can also use the tool at http://fus.nanzen.se/ to directly check the Samsung Kies servers for firmware packages (Windows only, sorry).

First, make sure you've got Kies loaded as you'll need it for (a) USB drivers for Odin, and (b) a DLL used to decrypt firmware packages. When you load up the tool, it'll ask if you want to copy the DLL. Say yes.

When you've got the tool up, select GT-I9100 from the top drop-down list, then Europe (or, in the future, Vodafone NZ) from the lower drop-down list. Then hit Check Firmware and see what gets reported. If it's newer than your current firmware you'll be able to download it.

When you've downloaded the firmware you'll have 2 files: a .ZIP.ENC file and a .ZIP file. Inside the .ZIP file you'll find a single .TAR file, which you should extract and save somewhere safe as you'll need it soon. Once this is done you can delete both the .ZIP and the .ZIP.ENC.

The .TAR file that you've set aside is the firmware package, and should be loaded into the PDA field in Odin.

I used this procedure with my last firmware update, and it worked great. Because the Samsung servers only report official firmware, not beta leaks, you'll always have the same firmware that you'd get if you updated through Kies. You can also download official firmware packages for other regions, in case you want to cross-flash your phone.

I can easily manage 2 days light/medium use on a single charge. I'd probably get more if not for the bug that causes the Android OS process to use more CPU than it needs. My phone used 45 minutes of CPU time in a day, where most phones should only be a few seconds. Hopefully Samsung or Google fix this issue soon.

Good oleophobic coating on this phone eh? My original Galaxy S was terrible in that regard! (or should I say normal, since apart from this phone and the iPhone this is nearly a universal problem with touchscreen devices).
