K1000716:
kiwitrc: Nofam and JINX, thanks for the heads up on the Jig. Hopefully wont ever need it.

Mine's now here (no more yellow triangle for me!) and is available to anyone wanting to use it. I only ask that it be returned to me in a reasonable time frame.

If you need it PM me your address details and I'll send it out.

The yellow triangle goes when you flash the the stock kernal back on after flashing the insecure kernal on root the phone. The jig is used to remove the rom count on the phone.

And when you're running a custom rom, like I am, you may not want to flash anything else over the tweaked kernel. The jig has solved that for me, as well as removing the count.

NZtechfreak: Yup, Riptide working perfectly for me!

Got my official Samsung MHL adapter today - anyone else got theirs? Not had a chance to test it, but I expect it works the same as my prototype one...

NZTF where did you get your MHL adaptor from? I am on the email list from Clove but nothing up there yet?

Got mine from a Korean Ebayer, they only had like 5 in stock a week ago, and they went between me placing my order and getting through payment etc (I was going to put a link up for them here, but alas they were gone). Mobilefun.co.uk has had a small stock consignment, as I see some on various forums have received theirs in the last week or so, and I was wondering whether anybody here had managed to get one.

Neets: @nofam - "your sgs2" so you've ordered it?

I bought a jig this morning off ebay, coming from Melbourne.

Certainly not - but I have a case for one, and a jig on order (sounds like we got one from the same place).

I like to do things in a backwards fashion Wink

I can understand.  My case (Sensa) arrived before the phone. I hope when I get back to work on Monday I'll have some other goodies I'd ordered for the phone.  And hopefully a new wall charger since I absentmindedly left mine at the hotel, and the good folk there haven't phoned to say Housekeeping have found it.

Lucky hubby has the SGS and the wall charger is the same.  And fortunately he's a good bloke and happy to share :)

Could someone please do me a favour and install the "Know your phone" or Network Info II" app from the market and see if it displays a full 15 digit IMSI number on the SGS2?

Thanks.

The "barely there" case and the Clingo car mount for my SGS2 have turned up from Clove, so guess I'll have to get the actual phone to put into it now.

Steve if you want to have a play with the phone let me know, you are in Wellington too correct? I would be keen to see that case.

Short answer: no.

Kies looks at the region that your phone was released in and then goes and checks if the firmware has been released for that region, if not then no update. So if you don't want to use ODIN then it's a waiting game.

I'm in the same boat, Kies is telling me that KE2 is the latest for my phone and i'm not brave enough to use ODIN to do the update either.

With SGS1 there was a registry hack you could do to persuade Kies to upgrade you, might be worth a google to see if that can be done here?
