“House prices are flatlining nationwide, with the national increase this month the lowest since Covid hit in early 2020, a property research company says.

CoreLogic’s latest House Price Index showed the average national price rose by just 0.7 per cent to $1,043,261 in March. The annual increase rate was 23.4 per cent, down from 25.2 per cent the month before.”

That looks like “House price rises continue nationwide” to me….

I actually met one once in my volunteer role. She mentioned she worked for the Herald, I commented on the poor editing. She told me what she did. Never saw her again.

Te Kāhui o Matariki Public Holiday Bill passed its Third Reading today, and will become effective (and an Act) when the Governor General signs it, presumably next week

It's already showing up in Google calendars as a New Zealand public holiday.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

That actually sounds about right for a CAA investigation. They typically take years to actually return a report, but they're very thorough. Newspapers have a habit of rifling through those investigation reports because they're low effort stories.

They must be run along the same lines as the Coroner's offices then - the reports on their findings are usually years after the fact according to press reporting of them.

A long way from the origins of Coroner's courts in medieval times, when a coroner's jury was summoned at the time of the death (often to the crime scene before the body was removed) and a verdict rendered then and there!

TAIC (Transport Accident Investigation Commission, https://www.taic.org.nz) not CAA, are responsible for determining "the circumstances and causes of [selected aviation, marine, and rail] accidents and incidents with a view to avoiding similar occurrences in the future".

They are required to issue an initial report within thirty days, but a full report takes as long as it takes.

Since they do a usually very, very thorough investigation, and then publish a draft report to any named parties who have a reasonable length of time to comment and request amendments, a Final Report even on a relatively simple issue like this one can take a l-o-n-g time to come out.

If they find any major safety issues, they may issue an interim public report recommending safety actions to mitigate the risk(s) discovered.

TVNZ News don't seem to have the "A Team" on captioning this Easter long weekend:

                     Saturday
