Wow, so I *finally* finished assassin's creed odyssey
What an EPIC experience it is. So detailed, so massive. Hard to explain the scale to someone who hasn't played it a fair bit. I don't think the first 15 hours does the rest of the game justice. The world is unlike anything I've played before. Right until the last hour I found new and interesting things.
Sure, there is a fair bit of what some might consider "filler", but it's fun. I've never sunk this much time into a game and not ended up having a massive years long break in the middle like I do with so many other games.
I couldn't have done everything, I think that would have been too much. I got my character to 74 and finished all the main missions, the cultists, the astergo parts and there were genuinely touching and powerful moments throughout. I really liked Alexios as a character, on the whole he is an excellent protaganist. I absoloutely would have left the game earlier if not for the ability to throw your spear and kill 4 lower level guys, it made the filler content bearable. Forts were some of my favourite missions. Sneaking around killing 30 guys without alerting anyone was quite a challenge.
I really loved Black Flag, but, there is no doubt, assassin's creed odyssey was the best in the series. Valhalla's premise leaves me cold, some of the game mechanics just severly turn me off. I am concerned going to Origins after Odyssey will be disappointing, despite Egypt being one of my favourite concepts and me being impressed by the 10 of so hours I put into it.
I am torn about a season pass for Odyssey as only one of the two DLC's reviewed well, though Atlantis gets *very* good reviews. Anyone have experience with the DLC?
For right now, I am trying to convince myself to go back to the Witcher 3. I have had about 5 goes and finishing it, and when I play it, I have fun, but it doesn't draw me back the way some other games do. I feel like I am finishing it, to tick it off my list.
