manhinli:BazNZ: Orcon for gaming sux. I'm getting that much delay I'm at a disadvantage against other players. I'm about to sign up with a new ISP once I've decided on which one. I want an ISP that does International gaming without lag, delay latency. I want an ISP with Home Phoneline, Tolls and a Max/Max Broadband plan without Orcon traffic management!!!!! Who is the best ISP for this?
If you want one company to do them all, there are only a handful:Traffic management is hard to consider into though.
- Telecom
- Vodafone
- TelstraClear
- Slingshot
- Snap
- Compass
New Zealand Connections has both telephone and Internet plans.

Since Switching to Vodafone we have had a really good experience. We aren't on the Red Network yet, but know once we are it will be even better.
Xtra so far, was our best Broadband provider, but we left them for Orcon and had 4 months of basically not been able to play WOW at all.
We sometimes get olive latency now in WOW, but most times the bar is green - and sometimes red in major cities during US peak times - due to playing on over populated private servers. But the latency is no where as bad as Orcon. As the game is still very playable.

Yeah I might switch away from Orcon if my online gaming experience continues to be crap (my contract is ending soon). Warhammer Online is set to be the next big MMORPG. Quite sad really, I used to love Orcon and was really great gaming. Turned to crap the last few months.
Rambaldi: On the Orcon+ unbundled network, browns bay exchange. Logged tickets in the past, which don't get answered. It's just a international bandwidth problem during peak times (maybe 6pm-midnight roughly), with gaming being confused with p2p traffic. 6+ months and your engineers still haven't figured out how to tell the difference between ventrilo traffic and p2p traffic, shocking!
duncanblair: Hi guys,
The reports here seem to be really mixed, which gels with what we are seeing on our end i.e. no network wide issue. Could anyone who is experiencing issues please email our support team, or give them a call - they will happily log a fault for you and look into it.
Also, would help us if those of you posting here could let us know if you are on the unbundled (Orcon+) network, or on the Telecom Wholesale products (I know most of you have, just a reminder for those who haven't).
Thanks guys.
