K1000716:
I just flashed it using CWM manager (Flash Kernel). It's not in the kitchen at the moment.

I'm running the following SetCPU settings:

200:800/SmartassV2 and screen off profile 200:500/Ondemand.

Also undervolted 100mv on all settings. Only been running this since this morning though, but working perfectly well so far.

man some seriously weird s$%^'s been happening ...

anyway anyone runnign cognition 1.5, if you undervolt 100 on all settings it will go into a boot loop crash ... what you need to do is wipe cache, get into titanium ASAP before setcpu loads hit freeze and then it will crash again but you've managed to stop it loading next time and then next time hit wipe data

but my battery is now going down at 2% per hour at least sometimes upto 5%+ i'm flashing my CWM backup back to stock!!! hopefully it works :(

That's weird - as per my sig, I'm running more than 100 under stock volts. . . . ?

If you've frozen SetCPU then you should be fine. . . . that's why it's a good idea to uncheck the set on boot option when you change voltages. . . let it bed in under a test load before you lock it in.

Here's the best guide I ever came across for undervolting:  Naphtaline's guide.
It is a risky business, take small steps and never tick "set on boot" until you're happy. Bear in mind that every phone is different so what works for one person may not work for others.

I know most of you are running non-stock custom ROMs, but I saw that stock 2.3.5 has leaked and wondered if anyone had given it a whirl?

No, and I won't be - once you've jumped the fence, I don't see the point in dabbling with Stock ROM's.  I was running the 2.3.5 modem today though, and was very impressed; great performance, and seemingly great (low) battery consumption too!

Have just flashed back to KG6 to test by comparison.

Darkyrom have released KI3 rom but too new for me to flash. Also reading where the new 2.3.5 has a new bootloader with a second binary counter that can't be reset by jig.  Still reading up on it but appears you are ok if you don't use odin to flash.

Its only been out a few days so will wait until the flashaholics find all the bugs

I am running the new villianROM which is 2.3.5, and it has removed the bootloader and the modems - eg its just the OS.

It works great, it is noticeably faster that 2.3.4, and seems stable and good. It's a winner I think!

I also separately flashed the KI3 modem and the newest siyah kernel.

Repeat: villianROM 2.5 and 3.0 DO NOT HAVE THE NEW BOOTLOADER and are both 2.3.5.

Boot loader will ONLY be flashed if:

A) You flash using Odin as opposed to via CWM

and

B) The bootloader hasn't been removed from the package.

And yes, you can flash just a modem by using Odin.

There should be an option in SetCPU to create a zip file on your sd card/internal memory that when you install it via CWM it will change the values back to default, a kind of safemode thing.

Ive never had to use it but have enabled the option just incase.

And C), worst-case scenario, you need to send your phone in for a warranty repair, just flash the stock firmware with Odin to get the original 2.3.3/4 bootloader, and reset the counter then. . . . .Honestly, the SGS2 is that close to un-brickable that you deserve what you get if you're crazy enough to screw around with anything directly touching the bootloaders (such as flashing them directly outside of a full ROM flash).

To clarify, the SGS2 actually has a primary/secondary bootloader - when you flash a ROM via Odin, it checks which System Boot Loader (SBL) is flagged as active, and flashes the other one.  The jig checks both SBL partitions, and so long as either is available, you can get into download mode.  So it's pretty hard to stuff this up. . . unless you specifically flash the bootloaders, and have rotten luck/dodgy USB cable/a powercut etc Laughing

mckenndk: I am having all sorts of issues with my SGSII.

The car mode for the voice recognition keeps starting up randomly, Voice talk (usually accessed by pressing the home key twice) randomly comes up and it goes into MTP application mode (when you plug in the USB to do stuff with kies) at its own free will with no usb cable or wifi connection at all.

When I receive calls it starts in Speaker mode and after you switch it back it will randomly during the conversation go back into speaker mode witch is a pain.

I have factory reset the phone and removed the SD card but the problem still persists.

I have emailed Techbrands when I bought the phone from and am awaiting a resoponse from them on were to go from here.

Any Ideas?

Dion

Hi  I have the excact same experience.

I to am relativly new to this phone, and this really annoys me.
I've had problems connecting my Phone to the hands free set in my car (Kufatec). and suddently one day I succeeded, and shortly after the MTP-application started all by itself, and the speaker is on by default both when Im calling someone or when somebody is calling.

Im really interested to hear if anyone knows a sollution to this issue

regards

Kristjan

Hellooooo. Just "obtained" a new Telecom branded SGS2.

Had an SGS, then iPhone4 (which I still have too).

Really liking it. It's stock at the moment, with Launcher Pro being the only 'mod' so far (not that it really counts as a mod). Amazed with how fast and powerful it feels, with no apparent 'problems' (i.e. lag etc) that factory SGS ROMs were displaying.

Trawling my way through this behemoth of a thread - you guys need to learn to create new threads for each seperate topic, I'm sure Mauricio would create a Samsung sub-forum if you asked nicely. This 'super-thread' is really counter-intuitive.

Appreciating the amount of effort many of you have put into documenting various things here. I am sure that my next free evening may entail rooting/ROMing my SGS2. Quite keen on CM7. Any reason I should consider otherwise?

Brendon has created an FAQ with many of the points you'll be interested in. Have a hunt a few pages back as it's linked in his signature.

If you're planning on using the camera much avoid CM7. They've not yet managed to incorporate the Samsung package and it's apparently not very good at the moment.

Oh, and congratulations on your purchase. ;)

The sub forum idea is a good one. Maybe a general one and then several manufacturer specific ones? I'm sure HTC and Motorola would deserve one as well?
