Hey all,

Wondering if anyone's heard of this problem:

An S2 bought a few months ago from VF with 2.3.3. Has a MS Exchange account set up. Calendar entries created in Outlook sync to handset but entries made on handset won't show up on Exchange calendar. Checked the default calendar and is set to Exchange.

Anyone heard of this?

Thirdly, Why the hell does my youtube app play wrong videos? Like, I'll click on a video and it'll just play some chinese news clip. Any ideas?

It appears to be a sort-of-known issue. See this thread for details: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=92924

We're having the same issue on all three Android devices in our house. I've just added my two cents to the Youtube thread/ticket you raised Kevin.

No issues here. On FluxMod 1.1.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

Quick question, are there any NZ retailers of MHL adapters? I spent a bit of time looking online tonight and I can't seem to find them anywhere locally (except trademe which i'd rather avoid).

Otherwise I might end up ordering a Biz Link MHL adapter from Mobile Fun or Clove in the UK, but I was hoping to get one sooner.

I've had the issue on every single device I've used. It's been a known bug for over a year with no acknowledgement or fix on the way.

Goldberg: ^^ All hail CM7!

What kind of battery life do you get mate? I only got my SGS2 a couple of days ago and I'm trying out CM with the stock kernel.

Secondly, what modem does everyone here recommend? Currently on KE7 as its what was on the phone when I got it.

Thirdly, Why the hell does my youtube app play wrong videos? Like, I'll click on a video and it'll just play some chinese news clip. Any ideas?

Cheers.

1. close to ~10 hours so far with 22% left (i just changed to siyah 2.4 last night)

2. i havent bothered with the modem - KE7 (if it aint broke, dont fix it)  Tongue Out

3. youtube app is a known issue. turn the HD on/off is one of the workaround

anyway, using cyanogenmod with the stock kernel is not as fast as siyah kernel + CM. this combination is almost 'perfect' for me. lagfree governor, set to 200 - 1200.

i bought my sgs2 since july but cant be bothered rooting it until now. the main reason to root is because i hate the fact that the offical vodafone nz ROM is still stuck at 2.3.3 and i am on holiday..

Very interesting, never heard of this Youtube issue until just now. I'm on YouTube app all the time. At home, work and across the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (1 year) and now the S II (3 months) I have never ever experienced this issue. Also have my own YT channel featuring 1080p videos from my camcorder. Just tried to replicate the issue with various random videos and no problems.. Quite interested now. I'll nosey youtube now for some videos on this issue.

jeffnz: All still only opinion as I doubt many would have tried all roms available currently nor measured battery life v speed as there is no doubt a trade off...

Getting there jeff. These are the vanilla results of roms I tested, installed and benchmarked no additions or subtractions. I chose a popular mix of the latest english 2.3.5/6/7 stock, slim, aosp.

Top 5 Roms
Simple+&+Clean+v2.4
Omega_v8.0_XT_XWKK2
FluxMOD_v1.1.0
CynogenMod-7.1.0
DlevROM2_3.1_KI4

The next stage of testing I want to run 5 kernels and benchmark 1 a day at install and finish.
Siyah 2.4, Speedmod 18-test13, Androidmeda-TJK 1.0, void-echo, SuperCore 2.0

Any suggestions welcome

I think I will cover cpu governors once I have it narrowed down to two roms and I will test the popular modems with the kernel changes otherwise ill prob still be testing and new roms will come out.

I also successfully extracted offline voice commands from 4seasons last night (its only feature worth having imo) and am running it on checkrom. It will probably run on all GB as stated by the original port dev luca.

Just trying to get british english accent to work atm as it doesnt support language changes in SGS2. Going on a road trip to auckland for the weekend so will test it and if all goes well ill make a tut with files (not sure how to make CWM flashables yet so if anyone does know it would help)

Out of those roms how do you know which ones aren't mounting files to the ramdisk to inflate Quadrant etc scores?

The only rom I do know that is not inflating scores is FluxMOD by CdTDroiD. I asked for suggestions on benchmarking programs that avoids this cheat and vellamo was put forward so I decided to use four covering the basic areas. Statistically if Flux is 3rd and doesn't cheat that leaves the other four and two of those are below so thats really bad for them the only way to find out for sure with the top 2 will be to continue with the kernels modems and governors.

This is just for my personal use and im sharing the results for those that are interested. Im not trying to find the perfect rom but just the one that suits me best for smoothness( also user friendly), battery and performance. If it helps out anyone else along the way great.

Sorry no, there is a "period to sync" setting in "Account Settings Sync frequency, noticications, etc.", I wonder if you calendar entry is outside of this period and the phone decided to not upload it back to Exchange?
