I seem to be lucky and never really had battery issues. Obviously a big change from using old nokia
6120 but when you realise what it does, the speed and also the screen size you don't worry too much about, a lot do and seem to be searching for something similar to a CDMA phone and sacrifice using it to get there.

I charge it at night, throw car charger on if I'm going any distance and have charger at work if needed so i'm happy

Thirdly, Why the hell does my youtube app play wrong videos? Like, I'll click on a video and it'll just play some chinese news clip. Any ideas?

It appears to be a sort-of-known issue. See this thread for details: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=92924

We're having the same issue on all three Android devices in our house. I've just added my two cents to the Youtube thread/ticket you raised Kevin.

No issues here. On FluxMod 1.1.

I've had the issue on every single device I've used. It's been a known bug for over a year with no acknowledgement or fix on the way.

It's a bug yes.  When playing a Youtube video, press HQ. It should play the correct video after that.  Press it again if you don't want HQ of course (or vise versa).

tried to replicate this bug and no luck at all. Never had on my galaxy s captivate (1 year) and now my S2 (3 months)

i never have problem with battery. i charge my phone every night and have spare usb cable at work. however, i found it interesting with different ROM and kernel, the same battery can last up to 3 days (quite useful on the weekend).

Probably not big news for most of you, but I was super excited to discover that my S2 got an update today...now on 2.3.6, and this was through Kies! Yay. Font is way different from 2.3 and haven't really had time to play round with it to see what else is different but...YAY lol!

it will be parallel imported phone from one of these countries:
Chile
Indonesia
Czech
Europe

too bad, vodafone nz version still stuck at 2.3.3 land. samsung is excellent at updating their firmware but the delay is usually because of the local telco provider

I don't have a problem with the stock battery at all, but in saying that I am a student so there is no time for me to charge my battery at uni and I don't own a car. I usually head off to one the plentiful craft beer bars in welly 5 out of 7 days so I am usually home late. Being a student I do use my phone heavily which is why I personally am looking for maximum output through rom and kernel tweaking and everyday im getting closer.

Right now I have 1% discharge on 18 hrs standby no UV on conservative governor, bfq I/O, 94% deep sleep and 9 kernel wakelocks on dark knight siyah 2.5.2, Fluxmod 1.1 tweaked. I get about 6% drain on angry birds over 30 mins and roughly double that on HD games such as Shadowgun. Music on the bus for 20 mins and reading an ebook 3%drain. And this is only getting better although I must admit newer isn't better (Dlev, speedmod 18 12 I can get 4 days moderate use without charge)

Understand where you are coming from my point, if any, was some peoples obsession with battery life. I was initially concerned when i first got my first android phone mainly because of what other people were saying in XDA and the grass is always greener etc etc. Now I just enjoy the phone for what it does and don't fret the battery life as everyone uses different things.

I'm assuming there is a trade off with speed and battery life, meaning the faster you go the more battery you use?, looking at the size of the battery it is very small (1.8 AH) it doesn't give you much time using all the features.

As an aside anyone know why my sig wouldn't be showing, seem to have all the right boxes ticked, have norton's running but always was

From what I read it might be a Telecom NZ cache issue. Could be wrong, didn't really look into it.

Need some help with Swype. I've used this on my phone without any problems in the past. During the recent 10c apps promotion I downloaded and installed Swiftkey, as I'd heard favourable comments on it. After using Swiftkey for the past 2 weeks, I decided to go back to Swype.

I now have a minor problem with Swype, in that the suggested word list that appears when swyping is now a vertically orientated list instead of what used to be a row of suggested words across the screen. The vertical list is hard to read at times as per the image below.

Anybody know how I can get the suggested word list back to how it was? Have checked the Swype settings and nothing there appears to change the layout.

Thanks

Harry

Is your phone rooted?  If so, you could delete the swype .apk and libcore.so files, and re-install them as a last resort. . . . It doesn't really answer why it seems to have corrupted in the first place though?

kiwiharry: No. Phone is not rooted.

Try going into settings > applications > manage applications > all. Then find Swype, and click on it. You want to clear defaultsm clear cache, and clear data. Or as many of them as you can.

See if that helps.

Thanks Brendan. That didn't change it, but following that I decided to fully uninstall Swiftkey, and doing that has resolved the issue.
