Hi, anyone figured out the tetherxp.inf file update required to tell xp how to install the usb tether for the Galaxy S2? (For example see http://code.google.com/p/openetna/issues/detail?id=454)

Can i flash a stock SGS2 to Lite'ning Roam v1.3 XWKE8?

or do i need to update to XWKE8 then flash Lite'ning ROM over that

I'm running Lite'ning v1.3 too, its good. No need to do anything before hand (maybe backup your apps just in case)

Hey guys.. I am planning to flash the lite'ning rom v1.3 as well, how do you backup all your applications?

Also if I decide to just return to the stock XWKE7 firmware, how easy is it to do so? Is it just reflashing the stock f/w or is there another way?

How important is wiping cache after every reflash? and how to do so without losing all your data?

heaps of questions i know, just trying to get bittern more by the android bug.. :)

Best way to back up apps is to Root your phone, then buy the premium version of Titanium Backup (the free one can't do batch installs from backups).

Its usually best to wipe the cache, just in case really, I've done lots without doing that on my SGSI and it was never an issue.

I can't be certain without doing some research at XDA, but it should be very straightforward to flash back to stock.

Hooray!! Officially in the new club. . . .purchased this morning for $697 from JB Hifi. . . .got a $50 gift voucher too!! :-)

It seems to be running KE7 too. . . . . . so what should I do first?

Sorry, yes - Smart2, which I'll downgrade to Smart1 in 6 months.

Only thing I can't suss yet is my 3G - it won't connect. . . . . .I'm guessing it's because I just signed up to a plan, and they're probably still cutting me over?

Yep. JB will (can?) only sell SGS2 on a contract. I asked when that would change, but this shipment is contract only and the next will be the same. The handset is in short supply as the JB branch I visited only got six units. Bigger branches probably got more handsets but there's either serious caution on the retailers' part or Samsung here haven't been able to procure many.

Looks like I'll be missing out an a hands-on with this first batch as they're all spoken for.

Last week of June there may be more. We'll see.

Dunedin has a JB Hifi? Hmmm. Why they don't come to Christchurch I don't know. Oh wait. They'd be on shaky ground.

Excellent news for you, and I believe the delay is in setting up the plan :)

All you need to do is root is so you can get your apps back on. I haven't done anything else with mine. I'm perfectly happy with the performance and have only looked at other ROMs out of mild interest. Each to their own, but I think I'll stick with 2.3.3 until 2.3.4 is out and then I'll flash a custom ROM.

The fact that you're joking about the earth moving for you, and the rest of the Christchurchians, suggessts you're relatively damage and inconvenience free. Which is a good thing.

2.3.4 is out, at least in Europe. The firmware has shown up on Samfirmware and I'm running it on my SGS1 - and it's running very nicely indeedy.

I'm a bit green with the envy monster that you have this terrific piece of kit to play with. Just gotta keep reminding myself that October isn't so very far away. I may even come to believe it eventually.

Yeah I ended up ringing Vodafone, who said the same thing about a delay in 3g being available on a new plan.

Can you point me at the bits n bobs you used to get root? I'm finding it annoying not even having r/w access with root explorer!!
