K1000716: Overclocking mine to 1300mHz made the gallery much faster to load, also made hi-def videos load instantly when there had been a noticeable delay before. It made no appreciable difference to battery life.

What O/C app did you use?

The Cognition 1.06 kernel update has made a noticeable difference in speed, and I only losy 4% overnight with 3g sync going.? As someone here suggested a while back (or maybe it was XDA), the performance gains through tweaking ROM's will be limited with this device - the real gains will come through kernel dev. work.

I'm using Tegrak Ultimate, no good for users of the later cognition builds. Tegrak also lets you overclock gpu, possibly the only app to do that so far.

Do you have a link for SetCPU?

1.06 here:

Hmm, our proxy must've been caching that page with 1.05 on it still, 1.06 showing up now. Ta.

SetCPU attached to the end of the first post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419

If Tegrak gets around to updating his code then this may be available again, he's using quite an old (relatively speaking) kernel as his base.

SetCPU is available for free via the XDA forums if you sign up. Cognition OC's to 1500Mhz which is pretty amazing. I underclock my SGS2 to 1Ghz for more battery life, I can't tell any difference in performance.

Cog v1.06 doesn't seem to be on the download page yet. Where'd you find it?

Wow - a 1.5Ghz overclock makes quite a difference!  Is that a safe setting, provided it's only set to On Demand?

No reports of anyone having blown up their phone yet. You can always try it but don't tick the "Set on boot" box. If it falls over, then don't OC as much. :)

Just noticed I can't download MMS (but I can send ok). I just get an error "Download of Message from blah Unsucessful" I've checked all the APN's as per the Telecom XT forum. Anyone else using one of these on XT?

Mine receives fine on XT, however when my partner XT sends me an MMS from her iPhone 4 the time stamp for the MMS on my phone seems to be 34 minutes in the past e.g. MMS = 8:22pm and current time was 8:56pm

My mms settings were automatically propogated

Try it with 3G data, turn auto retrieve on, check the setting for the apn including prefixed or absent zero's. Try go sms pro.

Just guessing.

I've just flashed the first (beta) SGSII RomKitchen rom.  My first custom rom on the SGSII and the first time use of the jig.  So far everything works nicely.  Good Wifi signal, good GPS signal.  Still testing other bits and bobs out.  Unsure yet when Tricky103 is looking to make it available as a beta in the kitchen.

But positive news that there's something brewing for SGSII users.

Oh, and I was so glad to get rid of the default swype and replace it with the new beta swype.  I'm enjoying it.

johnr: I have now sold my iPhone4 and got the S2

John

clicked a few buttons on Friday and got the SGS2 at 0700 this am (Tuesday) from VFAU ... on a $49/m plan for 12 months I am paying $30x12 for the phone bit ... overall cost would be around $900AU ... (in the process of getting official FREE unlocking from VFAU)

because i've been playing the wifey's iphone 4 heaps this droid thing is SO FOREIGN! (sorry ... dumb droid noob) first impression is if the iphone 5 is as good i'll sell this and jump back to apple ... but who knows i might get used to it soon :)

but i must say the phone has limitless potential for those who have the brain capacity and time! WOW can't wait to show it to the mates at work (99% iphone users)
