Noticed it’s coming thru at 2160k too. Not sure what actual quality of sky feed is as I thought it is 1080i but does say 2160k.

Yeah mine too, you can set the resolution to 1080p but can’t get disable the HDR

Grrrr - so I have the new box - recorded the Mens Wimbledon tennis finals and it stopped recording the last hour or so of the match - my mother has the old box and it recorded the whole game fine - every time I record something live it doesn't get the whole programme - so infuriating.

I have the new Sky box and it is currently up to date with no updates available when I do a check for updates. Below are my current issues, I would be interested to know if anyone out there is getting the same problems?

1) TV Guide. The documentation says that FFWd/Rewind buttons shift the view +24/-24 hours. Nothing happens when I try those keys within the TV guide.

2) TV Guide. The documentation says that you can type in a channel number to move the TV guide to that channel. Nothing happens when I try this.

3) After using a number of apps (Netflix, TVNZ+, Spotify etc). Occasionally when I then go back to view a Sky channel I get sound but no picture. The only way to get the picture back is to do a full restart of the Sky box.

4) If I use the TV guide to record upcoming programs such as "The Ultimate Fighter" on ESPN, the scheduled entry initially appears in the planner scheduled to record. But after a few hours the planner entry disappears and the program doesn't record. This issue only seems to happen with some programs and not others.

5) Not a bug but a pain. When recording long programs such as Tennis, Golf, Cycling under the old box you could position say 3 hours into the recording by typing 180 on the remote for positioning 180 minutes into the recording etc. With the new box you must fast forward from the very start of the recording which takes forever when the recorded program is 6-8 hours long for example.

1) & 2)
Where is it documented? I must admit I haven't made any attempt to find or read any documentation.
These would be really useful features if they worked

3) The only app I use much is TVNZ+, and I've also found that the Sky Box does indeed get confused after I exit TVNZ+. Sometimes I get the blue screen with the white circles (a spontaneous re-boot?), but I've also had sound & no picture, or picture & no sound.

4) I haven't seen this issue

5) This is to me one of the most annoying shortcomings of the new Sky Box. On the old box, I could record a rugby match and start off at 35 minutes, sure to miss all the pre-match blah blah blah and be ready for kick off. Not any more  😡😡😡

Related to 5) is that FFWD / REV / Play is extremely unreliable.
I Fast-Forward (16x or 32x) to a point where I want to watch, realise I've overshot by a small amount, Reverse (-4x) back a bit until I see I'm just before the bit I want to watch, press Play and ... sometimes it does, usually it FFWDs (all on its own) to some variable distance, often past my desired viewing time. 🤬. Rinse & repeat. Sometimes it takes two or three attempts to get where I want. 😡😡

this is one of the main reasons i gave the box back, it was to annoying to wait and see if they would fix it.

The old box is such a joy to use compared to the new box

Neither of these work for me either.

This is my top annoyance 😡 and leads to shouting at the Skybox in frustration. 🤬

Trying to decide the best and most effective way of getting the RWC to a second Room in September. Only need that functionality for the 6 weeks of the tournament. I have a Satellite box and will record and watch every match, but I really want equivalent functionality to my MySky. Equally good picture and ability to start watching a match whenever suits me, including starting a match 20 minutes after it starts recording.

You could just use SkyGo. Cast to screen from phone app, or HDMI from computer.

Hey I just got the new sky box and found it outputs exclusively in HDR with no options to disable. Is it possible the the sky box is doing an auto-HDR grading to the picture like the xbox series x does? I also noticed on other Android TV devices that it has an option to disable HDR but for some reason the sky box does not have this option. It should be in the advanced picture settings. Does eveyone that has the new sky box just not care that it is outputing non-hdr content in hdr lol?

I now use SkyGo streamed to my Apple TV for all Sport or anything worth watching. Its more reliable, Easier to use, Better quality picture and sound.
The Dongle is a joke

I wouldnt think it would have the same tech as the xbox, never found a setting to disable on the skybox so I ended up turning HDR off on my TV's HDMI input, which is a pain because I have to turn it back on when I watch something that is supposed to be HDR.

The picutre looks a little washed out to me when Sky is outputing regular TV in HDR. I also don't want my TV's backlight at 100 the whole time. I haven't bothered to call or let Sky know becuase i suspect the call centre staff would have zero idea of what I'm talking about.

As I’ve posted before I have the pod and I like it. It does everything I need. But my one major frustration is the slow “fast” forwarding which seems to take forever if trying to skip a lot of something. I got up early before work this morning to try and watch the last hour or so of the British Open golf. The full programme was 11 hours long so I wanted to fast forward to about 9:15. At the fastest speed, specified as “64x” it took a full 18 minutes to get from the start to just over 9 hours which should really only take maybe 10 seconds. I almost needed to have got up half an hour earlier to begin the fast forwarding process. Had the same frustrations with Wimbledon when trying to watch a match that wasn’t the first of the day. So my biggest wish is for this to be sped up or maybe an option to specify a time to jump to.

Used the new box at my Mother-in-law’s place in the weekend and fast forwarding was much quicker so maybe it’s a satellite vs streaming thing…

Yes Sky streams all the video not like Vodafone used to stream just thumbnails, so it is very much constrained by the amount that can be streamed at Sky and the amount that can be processed in the Sky Pod per second. I have already asked them to fix this. But I also like someones suggestion to fast forward to a specific point in time.
