We were advised by management over a week before lockdown started to take laptops etc home each night and test that we were ready for WFH. Any issues had time to be sorted before lockdown started.

We advised our clients of the same. Some did, some didn't. The first few days of lockdown were pretty awful helping everyone remember how it worked, passwords, removed 2FA apps that had to be reinstalled. Everyone expected to be working 5 minutes after they got home and a number weren't particularly patient or pleasant. In the grand scheme of things, a relatively small number, but it adds up and as others have mentioned, it takes it's toll.

Because we know not everyone is working 8-5pm we have been pulling some massive hours making sure when someone emails or calls at 9pm, we have someone helping them so they can be productive.

When you are allowed, you should say something kind to your IT provider internal or external. A lot of us are working really hard to keep the lights on.

Been vaxxed since May as a frontline health worker with the original 3 week interval. Found out they're now using 6 weeks? And you have the option to pick which gap you like? Can you choose a later date to follow other country's advice (12 weeks?)

Just want to share... anecdotal but in my circle, the younger people (staff) had worse side effects than our residents... good thing we didn't get jabbed at the same time in the workplace because most of us took sick days to manage the side effects... second jab was way worse in our experience.

I got jabbed in May, our workplace (down the road from Highbrook Clinic) was offered walk-ins as they had 1 week of spare capacity before Group 3 started. I had a mild reaction to the second dose (3 wks) chills as I was going to sleep. Nothing serious slept it off and was okay the next morning.

Partner only got jabbed this morning but she is still on the 3wk schedule as she booked weeks ago before they changed it. There was a 5wk wait for the Elliot St Clinic when she booked in July. Rescheduling the second dose means pushing it out till mid October earliest which she isn't keen on given we live in CBD and are surrounded by LOIs.

Had our second jab on Friday and the side effects were much worse than the first.

All four of us had the usual sore shoulder, however the 17 year old son's shoulder hit him more or less straight away.

The two boys and I had chills through the night, while the wife had another headache. All of us were a bit knocked about on Saturday, so just a day of rest and relaxation.

On Sunday everything was back to normal and we returned to trying to keep busy at home.

*snip*

Well said; in a similar field (but thankfully not in Health) and the lack of movement from our management over regular testing of WFH and making sure our staff actually have gear over the last 18 months has been shocking.

As a result weeks of people who have forgotten how to use a computer since March 2020, people who have ignored IT directives to check equipment and people who earn more money than they know what to do with asking us for a new computer.

I just got this last night at 9.30pm

COVID Vaccination Healthline

Kia ora Blackjack,

Your vaccination appointment has moved to our new drive-through centre due to reduced capacity at our centres under Alert level 4.

Please come to the following location on Wednesday 1st September as close to your original time as possible within the opening hours.

Park and Ride, 42 Verissimo Drive, Mangere (near the airport) MAP:https://bit.ly/3jjYVD1

The centre is open from 8.30am with the last appointment at 3.30pm.

You will need your original booking number and someone must be with you. You can bring people in your bubble aged 12 and over (ideally 2-4 people per car).

Please don't come if you are feeling unwell or are waiting on the results of a COVID-19 test.

For more information on how to prepare, visit https://immunisation.northernregion.health.nz/

Thank you for your patience with this change.

I'm working from home full time as well as my wife and I have two kids one preschool.  How am I meant to get there with one other person and not anyone under 12?

What would happen if I didn't have a car? (original vaccination place was next door to work)

I think they mean that only people in your bubble over 12 can also be vaccinated. I presume they want another person with you just incase you have an adverse reaction they aren't stuck with your car. If your wife is inline for a shot she could probably get her appointment changed assuming she can accompany you.

I live alone so I'm buggered if I know what I would do if I got an email like this. And, as has been pointed out, what about people who don't have a car?

If there are prerequisites like this then they should be asking "is this suitable for you" rather than just assuming that it's appropriate for your situation.

I am hoping that, I'm not trying to be difficult but what happens to those bubbling alone?  I have a couple of work colleagues like this. or if you don't have a car?

Does anyone know the wait time at these drive in vaccination places?  My wife (nor i) can take a few hours out of the day from work to wait in a line with a couple of young kids stuck in the car.

Partner got same message. We live in CBD, walking distance from where she was booked in. She rang the booking line and explained she did not have a car (a bit of a white lie as I have the car...) their solution was to rebook if you can't drive to it, next open spot was mid Oct. Also, she was booked for Sunday and rescheduled for Monday during work hours, so we'd both have to take time off work as I'd have to take her.

Anyway she just went along at her original appointment time at clinic and everything was fine, she said plenty of people were showing up explaining they don't have cars.

It does read as if they have capacity at the Essential Workers pop-up now and trying to fill it's days now while deter walk-ups/unexpected.

(my AKL counterparts were advised it was at the airport there somewhere on prior arrangement or presentation of ID)

I expect with a broad spread it may spread the load with those who can make it and cannot. Would save having to open slots and have first-ins take them

Similar will likely happen down here at Addington once the tail falls off.

It depends on how self sufficient you are. In our neighbourhood that are plenty of single (elderly) people. Those that need to talk to more than a dog or cat have formed social bubbles with another. People in the street doing any shopping usually ring around to see if others need anything.

I'm perfectly fine looking after myself. I've been doing it for 10 years.

I'm just saying that I would be annoyed if my vaccination appointment is going to be cancelled as a result of me being socially isolated.

Booked in for 2nd jab tomorrow in AKL CBD.

No email or txt to one confirm the appointment still stands; I assume so.

Secondly, nothing to say i'd have to drive out anywhere instead.

How far is it? I walked to my vaccination location and back, which was about 15kms round trip.

(It was good to get out again :-).
