The strange thing is, this 'broken' PC running windows 10, can connect to a network share on the other PC running Windows 10 just fine.
Just makes no sense.

MikeB4: I am sure I am missing a very simple step but cannot for the life of me find it. I would like to move where the Onedrive folder is domiciled on my PC. I have my HDD partitioned, I would like to move the Onedrive folder from the 'C' drive to the 'D' partition.?

Any idea folks?
 


OneDrive is a mess. At least in Windows 8 you had "placeholders" so even though a file wasn't available offline at least you knew of its existence. In Windows 10 you either sync or not, so you don't really have access to files on your laptop/tablet because you can't see it in the file system.

Turns out you can't mix email-based user logins with local user logins and expect to share shared drives amongst those PC's.

All PC's must either be local user login or email based login (but not a mix of both).

Fixed my shared network drive issue by changing my local PC to a local user login (matching the login style used on the remote PC) and now works.

Still, seems a bit silly?!

At first I thought i had trouble installing gpu driver. It seems 10 has a weird issue with drivers. Tried up update touchpad driver since 11pm last night. Still can't. Will try one last method and of still unable i am hoping system restore point works like it should .... Here's hoping ...

It would be silly if it was true but it isn't. You certainly can share between MS accounts and local logins.

Last night I downloaded new HP drivers for my EliteBook 1020 G1 laptop - network, display, NFC, fingerprint reader, storage, touchpad, microSD, USB and BIOS. All updated. Windows 10 still worked with Windows 8 drivers (except the fingerprint which needed a newer one).

Turns out i had to uninstall old driver. Then restart. Then the new driver would install fine. Who would have known.

I tried to install Windows 10 on my old HP Mini (currently running Windows 7 Ultimate). Everything seemed to go fine until BSOD during the final stage (configuring settings?), error was, I think, IRQL_UNEXPECTED_VALUE. Seems like probably a driver problem?

I was thinking it might be best to clean install anyway so maybe I'll give that a go. Did I get far enough into the process for my upgrade to register?

Anyone think of another reason I'd be having problems?

One question, how is my 'upgrade' of Windows 10 associated with me?
I'm using a local account, not an online MS account. So if I go to reinstall windows 10 again, where is my product key? or how will it activate?

It would be silly if it was true but it isn't. You certainly can share between MS accounts and local logins. 


Evidence I had from my upgrades was you can't.

Either that or something funky with Microsofts upgrade process. Certainly what I did fixed the problem.

That is sweet and simple. Lets hope it works! I'm going to get a SSD for my RIG here, so will test it out soon enough.

I thought I would jump into Windows 10 apps and try to use Groove. If I select a suitable media file Groove fires up as the default media player. But I can't work out how to get Groove to scan my drives for media as it always show as there being no media.

This is where I have Groove looking for content.



I have media files in those locations - espeically the c:\users\xxx\Music folder which is the default.

But the main Groove screen shows this



And shows this no matter how long I leave the PC on.

Any ideas?

After a fresh install i now how have a list in device manager of 60 objects under other devices mostly all "base system devices" that Windows can't find drivers for and that I can't identify what they are. My machine is running fine and all my hardware seems to be working though.
Is there anyway I can ID these and then find a driver for them?
